On the other side of the river, the Pollet district was the heart of Dieppe in the past.

This artificial island was home to the region's sailors until the 19th century. They were able to anchor their boats safely, carry out repairs and prepare for future fishing trips.

Since the Middle Ages, Le Pollet has been linked to the other bank by a bridge.

This point of commercial and strategic interest, at the mouth of the River Arques leading to the English Channel, was soon coveted by the Vikings. According to legend, it was they who created the port of Dieppe by abandoning the Pollet district.
